Please respond to this question. I posted a question on
last Friday and not ONE person looked at it.

I am hyperlinking a slide show to a word file. When I
click on the link the slide show automatically starts. I
want the file itself to open so changes can be made.
Please help me.

Thanks.

The program is working as designed. When you click on the hyperlink it opens the link to whatever you have linked. If you want to edit the word document, then it should be done in word and not PowerPoint.

I don't want to edit the Word part of it. I thought there
was a way to open the PP file link without it
automatically running the show. Thanks for responding

That's the way it works for me too. I recommend that you post your question
in one of the Word newsgroups. You're more likely to receive help there.

I can't quite make out from this what's going on.

Is it:

You have a PPT presentation that includes links TO a Word file and you want
the Word file to open when the link is clicked?

or

You have a Word DOC file that includes links to a PPT file and you want the
PPT file to open for editing?

Actually, I still have your original post marked as unread. I just
wasn't sure what to respond!

Let's see. First question is how did you create the hyperlink in Word?
Second question is which version of Word, and which version of PPT?

The problem is, I gather, that the PPT file is opening in Show Mode when
you click the link in Word, right? So it's acting like a PPS file. You
want it to act like a PPT file and open in Edit Mode, right?

I created a word doc and went to 'insert' and inserted
hyperlink to the PP file.
Both programs are version office 2000.

Yes I want it to act like a PPT file and open in edit
mode. Is this possible and hopefully it is a simple fix.

Thanks.

I haven't gotten anywhere with this one other than a vague notion that it
could be done with a macro. Have you posted in the Word groups? It seems
mostly to be a matter of getting Word to invoke PPT/the presentation
correctly rather than it being in PPT's hands.

Hm. I'm with Sonia--you might ask in the Word groups. They may have some
ideas for you over there.

When I do this, PPT opens in a browser window here, which makes it easy
to choose Edit Slides from the menubar. That may be because I have more
versions than just 2000 on my machine, though.

I tried Insert/Object, but that opens as a slide show for me.
