Is there a way so that a number that is entered into a cell is NOT displayed
in scientific notation? This data conversion has unformatted telephone
numbers, and Excel is displaying them in scientific notation. I need them
to be displayed as entered. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Allen

Hi Allen!

Since they are telephone numbers and you're not going to do
calculations with them, pre-format the cells as Text.

Play around with Excel's custom formats. I have used a format like
"0000-000-000" to format a cell with mobile numbers - the user enters only
the digits and Excel will automatically add the hyphenation and will also
display the leading zero.

You could also use "(0000) 000 000" for mobile and "(00) 0000 0000" for
land-line numbers. The easiest way is to go to Format Cells, select Custom
and then enter the custom format in the Type field. You can preview the
effect of your custom format mask as you enter it.

See Frank's and Norman's replies also.

Cheers,
Rodney.
