How do i use a gpo to prevent users from saving to a desktop? I want them
not be able to change the desktop

You'll want to set up Desktop Folder redirection to a network drive of
your chosing. Then, lock down access to that folder to Read only for
the users. They will be unable to change the desktop then.

Best way to do this is to set up a Security Group with the users whom
you wish for this policy to effect, and tie the Desktop Folder
redirection policy to that Security Group.

Hope it helps,

Hi,

You can use Mandatory Profiles if you don’t want to use redirection.
However, Mandatory Profiles make everything mandatory and delete all
changes at logoff.

Hi

I always seem to have to include the authenticated users group with GPO
security settings. without this group it will not be applied to the security
group I created.

any idea why?

I guess I must use mandatory profiles if I do not want any local profiles
created on the local machine right?
