How do I prevent IE from alphabetizing my favorites. I don't want them in
alpha order as I like to have most used URL's and folders at the top of my
favorites list.
I'm running XP Pro w/SP2 and IE6.

Thanks in advance..

Jim..

Click and hold on any bookmark and drag it to the top of the list, or
wherever. It will stay there.

FWIW I prefix names of the most used favourites, in each subject folder,
with numbers :
01, 02, 03 etc. (Keeps the ones I want at the top and the rest in Alpha
order) :-)

I do rearrange my favorites by dragging them where I want them, but sometimes
for no apparent reason IE takes and put them in alpha order. I would think I
could disable IE from doing this. It gets annoying having to reorder them 2
or 3 times a week.

I have given that some thought, but I would rather have IE not mess with
them. Thanks for the tip.

Are you running McAfee Virus-Scan or similar? It is a known problem that if
McAfee is updating, and you don't close the window and open a new one before
using IE then it will put all your favourites in alphabetical order.

Easiest solution is to remember to close the window once the update is done,
then open a new one.

Hope that helps.

Surprise.. I am running McAfee Virus-Scan. But, I'm not sure what window you
are talking about. The McAfee update window or if I happen to be in IE when
McAfee is updating is that the window you are talking about? Also, where can
I find the article that talks about this?
Thanks Much..
