I want to send my presentations by email so recipients can only read it but
not do anything else to it. What is the best approach to take?
I use Office XP and would like to know how to achieve this in this version.
However, I may be able to get access to 2003 or 2007 - if so,are there
alternative, better options?

You can set a password to prevent modification. In 2002 it's in Tools >
Options >Security

Be aware that it's not all that secure and a skilled user will be able to
get round it quite easily!

Another way is to create an exe file but many e mail systems will not accept
exe files.

Click Tools > Options.
Click on the Security Tab.
Set a password to modify.
Once done, click File > Save as.
Under the save as type, click on the dropdown, scroll down and look for
PowerPoint Show (.pps). Enter a filename, click Save.

By doing so, the file will enter the slideshow when opened. If the file is
open through File > Open, it will only be in read-only mode unless the user
knows the password.
