Prevent automatic shutdown?

I've just updated internet explorer on my win 2000 server
and it finishes with a screen headed "restart computer"
and the only choice is "finish" - all other buttons
greyed out. I don't want my server to shut down in the
middel of a working day, so how do I prevent it? I
thought I'd use shutdown -a as I have on my pc, but there
is no shutdown.exe on the server. Is there another
command I can use?
