Pressing buttons on the keyboard take me to undesired shortcuts.

How do i disable shortcuts used by the keypad? e.g. when i press the space
bar in certain applications it always moves the cursor to the address
bar,Pressing the"Right Arrow" opens search or find. The shortcuts are not
Windows XP defaults.
