preserving links when uploading

Ben

I have 30 slides with an image on each slide linked to a
file on my hard drive.
My objective is to upload the ppt file and the file
containing the images so that the links are preserved.
Is this possible if I keep the same relative path to the
linked files intact. For example if on my hard drive the
ppt file is in folder called "Powerpoint" and the images
are in a sub directory of "Powerpoint" called "Charts",
supposing i upload the files to a folder called
Powerpoint and I upload the images to a sub directory of
that called "charts" thereby recreating the same relative
structure. Should that work?
Thank you

Ben,

Assuming you all *Always* talking about the same root drive letter.

Then all should be fine.

e.g.
c:\powerpoint\charts

is not the same as
d:\powerpoint\charts

It depends on where you're uploading. If it's to a web server, then no, I
don't believe this will work. When a visitor clicks the link to the PPT, it'll
get downloaded to a temp folder on their computer and played back from there.
Relative links will point to the temp folder, not to the web server, so the
linked images won't be available.

If you mean to put the PPT and linked files on a file server then it should
work.

Because of the complications involved, I wonder if you wouldn't be better off
embedding the images instead of linking.
