Preserving Customizations.

I try when ever I can to have settings files saved, but these are few and
far between. MSWord has normal.dot, and with this at least I can preserve
most of my customizations. Now that I have customized XP, I have saved the
"theme" file. But every application expects the user to provide
customization details, which are then lost when the system crashes. Given
that, except for Win98 with its msbatch.inf file, NO software I have seen
creates a file for the express purpose of preserving customizations across
loads, I need to preserve this information where it is, right? And this
information would be in the Registry, right? How is this done?

I export reg files from the specific keys that I hate, that get changed
frequently from asinine programmers and such. then put them all in one reg
file. If I noticed something changed I merge the whole thing. I also use
them to reset RUNMRU's like the start menu run box. Because if say you clear
History in IE it clears that also but there 5 commands that I always want
there. So then I can reset all my runmru's at one time before restarting or
shutdown.

It will take some work on your part to figure it all out.
