Is there a way to convert a Powerpoint presentation, which
includes several pieces of music, into a CD that is
playable on a DVD player?

The answer is kind of, sort of, ... yes, a little.

DVD players play movies.
PowerPoint is a presentation.

You can record the presentation to a movie file using Camtasia or Windows
Media capture devices then convert the movie files to a DVD.

But here is the problem. You will not get a good quality movie. In fact,
the quality is usually less than regular TV quality. The text will be
jagged; the pictures, not crisp. Aside from the quality issue, there is
also the issue of slides and animation advancing. If you are recording a
show that is all pre-timed and runs independent of a speaker, then you can
record this as a all at once movie. It is not natively able to hold on a
frame until you are ready to advance.

Please tell MS if this is something that you feel PowerPoint should offer.
It seems as if they are collecting ideas for the next version of PowerPoint
and now is the time to have your voice heard.

So the bottom line, at this time, is yes, but you probably won't like it.
