presentation differences

JGT,

Something I used to do was to open BOTH presentations

Then flick between each slide using the 'window' menu of powerpoint.

To compare two presentations for any changes...do the following:
(This trick does not work in ppt 2002/XP.)
1.. Load both presentations into powerpoint
2.. Make sure you're on normal slideview (edit mode)
3.. And both presentations are on page one.
4.. Set the page zoom to "Fit"
5.. Here's the clever bit . . . Hold down the CTRL key
6.. Press the "Tab" key - (that's the one next to the "Q" key OK!)
7.. Press it repeatedly or even hold it on
8.. Any changes between the two presentations will stand out like a pink
piglet flying across the sky.
9.. Repeat for all pages

For other versions of powerpoint you can use the windows feature of ALT-TAB
to toggle between open presentations

TAJ, thanks for the suggestion. I've actually done this with small
presentation but I'm working with some rather large presentations, one is
about 750 slides and the other is 13 different files where each contains
about 50-75 slides. Plus in the near future I will have about 60 new sets to
compare. I'm looking for something that will be more automatic and less
subject to error. Ideally it would also scan the notes section. I know this
is asking a lot but I'm working with a team of instructors and we need to
know ideally all of the changes. Asking the instructors to log all of the
changes just does not work and it is counter productive for their workflow.
We find it very helpful to provide a list of changes to the other people
using the materials thus allowing them to more easily add/merge their
additions to the presentations.

Hi

One way to do it is to send the 2 presentations to word then use words tools
-> compare & merge documents and the changes appear as track changes. Send to
outline to see changes in the bullet points and to slide & notes to see
changes to notes. I haven't figured out a way to see changes to
pictures/autoshapes and so on :-(

If you need more details, post back including your version of Office.

I may have found the answer - after a bit of searching I found DiffDoc at
http://www.softinterface.com/index.htm and without really reading the help I
was able to compare two different PPT files. To top it off it will work with
various other file formats as well. The downside is the cost, $400 for one
license (OUCH). While this seems to do the job I'll have to look for a
solution that I can afford.

BTW I'm using Office 2003 & WinXP Pro, I have Office 2007 but have not had
the time to install. I also have all the versions of Vista but have not
installed.
