I have a new Dell 8600 laptop and am using a cordless mouse for school
presentations . When I pause to discuss a topic the slideshow goes to sleep
or something
I left click and nothing , after about a 15 second delay it moves to the
next slide.if I click twicw when it does respond it moves ahead two slides.
If there is no delay between slides the show runs smoothly. The The delay
occurs even if I use the laptop controls. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Have you checked the power settings on your notebook? Are you running on
battery? You PC may be going into slumber mode. Check the power settings
through Control Panel, Power.

I am running on AC power and the slumber or sleep settings are at never. I am
using a Gyro cordless mouse that allows me to walk around and use the mouse
free hand. I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. I was using a
Dell 8200 and never had this problem. If I don't move to the next slide in
three or four minutes this delay occurs.

Hi,
Have you checked to see if there is an updated driver/software for the
cordless mouse?

Does this 'delayed' reaction happen if you use a normal wired mouse?

If it does, then the problem is not with the wireless mouse/pointer thing.
If it does not, then the problem lies elsewhere.....

- check all power options as Glenna has mentioned....
- BIOS/control panel/ Turn them all OFF for testing
- What is the content of your slides?
- Is the next slide something very complex...or contain an overly large bitmap/scan/picture?

I have not checked that but the sleeplike delay also
occurs with the cordless mouse disconnected. Using the
controls on the laptop it happens. I am going to try to
uninstall some of the extra software that the previous
teacher had on it , maybe it's a RAM issue.
