Hey all just a quick question...
I have bought a system that is using a prescott 2.8e now I was told that the
system will only bott using pc3200 ram as the prescott will not allow you to
use anything slower is this true? The reason I am asking is that I do not
yet have ram for this system, however I DO have some pc 2100 and Pc2700
stuff around here that I can use if it would work.

Specs:
Abit IC7-G
2.8E Prescott P4
Antec 480Watt PSU
Sapphire X800 Pro (VIVO)

TIA

According to crucial.com it should boot with the PC2700. The boards with
the i875 chipset will not work with the PC2100.

If you're going to be using Windows XP with SP2, see:

You can try it and see what happens. I would set the BIOS to the
factory defaults first or possible reset the BIOS. But why dont you
just download the manual and read it.

It is kind of silly to get a Prescott CPU and use PC2700 Ram. It kind
of defeats the purpose behind buyinng a 400 FSB processor.
