Preferred network loses availabilty

I'm using XP home with a Linksys router and wireless PCI
card.
Sometimes, the network disappears. In network connections
I see the network as preferred but not available. The
antenna icon has a red x on it. I do a refresh, and the
antenna icon for that network has the blue circles around
it but the network still does not show as available. The
network available box is empty.

Then later the connection, by itself reestablishes and it
show as available.

Any ideas? When the connection is available, its usualy a
good connection.

We have another computer, with the same config, and it
doesn't have that problem. And the computer that works
all the time has a weaker connection.

Hey Brian--I have the same issue. . .it seems like when
there are other available networks--even though mine is
in "preferred" mode the other networks take precedence. I
just posted something similar--what type of Linksys are
you using?

Bern--One other thing to try that seems to stabilize my
network is making sure that this feature:

Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network

Is turned off (left unchecked). Researching what impact
this has. . .

It is turned off
