Hi all.

I would like to be able to set up Outlook XP & 2003 to access users personal
contacts when composing a message.

Currently it is bringing up the Global Address book, and this is beginning
to annoy one of the guys in the office who has a short temper!

All help appreciated.

When you select the TO in a new message which then brings up the select name
dialogue box; on the right is a drop down field tilted "Show Names From the"
if you click on the drop down arrow do you see Contacts listed. If you dont
see them listed make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address
book by right clicking the Contact folder and selecting Properties then on
the Outlook Address Book Tab ensure the checkbox for "enable as email
address book" is checked. If it is checked or greyed then check that the
Outlook Address Book service is present by going to Tools || Email Accounts
|| View or change existing directories or address books || NEXT || do you
see the "Outlook Address Book" on the left hand side. If you dont see it
then use the Add button to Add it, if it is present then remove it and
re-add, restarting Outlook between each process. Then make sure that the
Contact folder is enabled as an email address book as explained earlier.

The guy who is using Outlook has access to his e-mail address book, the
problem that we are having is when a new message is created the first
address book that loads is the global address book.

We would like for his personal address book from Outlook to be the first to
show. I know that this is a minor problem, but he's so against change he is
arguing for arguings sake! He doesn't want to have to click the address book
source. He wants his personal ones to be presented first.

Okay open up the address book itself either from the toolbar or Tools ||
Address Book go to Tools || Options || Change the Show this address list
first drop down field to reflect your users most holiest command (if his
name is Bob then he works for me too).

Ps dont forget to tug on your forelock

Now that's what I am talking about.

Thanks for your help. Greatly appreciated.
