I've got a bunch of Codecs available on my system.

Which one would you prefer to use in order to wind up with a file to burn to
get a DVD?
Thanks,
Doug

Yep, I'm saving as AVI but what Codec should I use??
Also, should I use the same Codec while saving an AVI altered with Virtual
Dub??

Thanks,
Doug

I'm sorry, I misread what you meant.
Is this what I should use in Virtual Dub also?

Mine has DV-AVI with NTSC in parenthesis. I assume that this is what you
meant??

Thanks again,
Doug

Thanks,
I appreciate it (and you!)

In Movie Maker, you don't have a choice of codec when saving a DV-AVI
file... it's the Microsoft DV codec, and you get type I files.

For Virtual Dub, I've been using the Panasonic DV codec.... which gives
you type II DV-AVI files...

Hi again,

I found Panasonic CV codec and downloaded it but it didn't get into my list
of codec's.
Where are they found on a PC. If I knew the Folder name, I could put it in
there.

Thanks again,
Doug

The final tip... on this note... is - if you select the codec and find it
not working, no error message, nothing, just doesn't work.... check the size
of your input file. If it's not 720x480 it doesn't align with that needed
for the codec.

In those cases, I use Virtual Dub to crop and resize as needed... to make
the input file into 720x480 before the rendering is done... it can all be
done in a single process.
