I have a retail Microsoft Precision 2 joystick which has
been on the shelf for a while (since Win 98 days). Can it
be used in Windows XP (either Prof or Home version)? The
MS web site has no drivers.

Hi AJK,

There are drivers for most all Microsoft joysticks
including generic drivers built into XP. All you have
to do is connect the device, and then click the button to
add it in the Control Panel / Game Controllers interface.

The "Add..." button is only for gameport devices though because they cannot
Plug n Play. USB devices are PnP though so you should just be able to plug
it in and it should load the drivers in be ready to use shortly. If this
isn't the case you should check to see if your USB controller has a VIA
chipset. They have an update that fixes some issues on some USB controllers.
