Hi all,

I have a customer site that currently has a mixed mode domain structure - 1
x W2K Server & 1 x NT4 Server.

Problem is that the Domain name (pre-Windows 20000) for the W2K server is
"LINK" and the actual domain name is "COMPANYLINK.CO.UK".

Not sure why, when set up, it wasn't given the same name without the .CO.UK
(unless it's to do with 8 character limitations) but I'd like to change it
so it's "COMPANYNAME".

Does anyone know how to do this - or even if it's possible, or am I correct
in thinking that there's an 8 char limit to pre-W2K op systems.

All/Any help VMA.

Thanks Neil,
Though there was a limit, but went too far back to DOS 8 char limitation -
Opps!!!!

To remove the domain, do I not have to DCPROMO it and effectively remove
AD - if so what implications will this have, just a domain name change and I
have to set up all the users again, or will I have to reconfigure the whole
machine and network ??

What would happen to the domain if I changed from mixed to Native - would I
loose ability to communicate with the NT4 server.
The NT box is currently running their Exch5.5 and Proxy stuff.

Cheers again
Mark G.
