Pre-RC1 TimeBomb?

Hey guys, I have a legit key from Microsoft, and activated, and have it
installed. Does it ever expire? I don't think it does.

Excuse me, but according to the MSFT website, it says that the RC1 build, not
the pre-RC1 build. Can we please get a confirmation on this? Also, is there a
way to kill the timebomb?

Paul

I have confirmed this. I am running the pre-RC1 build and it very clearly
states that is when it expires.

Sorry to interrupt you again, Jimmy, where do you see the expiration date?
Also, is there a way to break the time bomb?

Paul

Or, Jimmy, if you don't mind, we can do a Remote Assistance and you could
show me if you don't mind.

I also can confirm this.

I can confirm this as well. Pre-RC1 expires 5/31/2007.... not that it matters much since the final release will be out before then.
I also can confirm this.

It is a devastating realization to those who, thinking they are getting a free operating system, have upgraded their production machines with no backups and no recourse to install another operating system. And after read through the posts all dealing with "you... mean... it expires?" and "How do I uninstall (sic) Vista?" I have come to the conclusion there are a plethora. Part of the blame may lie with Microsoft for not ensuring that those downloading the beta had, at the very least, a rudimentary understanding of essential skills such as reformatting a disk or diagnosing a problematic device, but only a small part. In the end, it is the operator of the computer that must take responsibility for his or her actions.

While I feel some pity for these, as well as others who have downloaded and installed Vista without properly registering (and thereby no product key), I also feel that the consequences of their actions will serve as a lesson well learned. This experience has been traumatic for many, but hopefully educational, as well. I know I certainly have benefited immensely from the vast knowledge available from the users of this newsgroup, and have tried to contribute where my decidedly limited skills may be apropos.

Paul, you need to think about what you are asking in here. That is an Illegal
act, it violates the livense that you agreed to when you ran the install, and
noone in here will give you info on how to create a pirate copy of this
Pre-Release candidate.
Correct me if Im wrong guys, but this is not the place to be asking for
something like that.

GEEK!!!

Dunno why he wants a crack for a RC. The final will be cracked long before
the beta runs out. Well, that is if you can trust a cracker named
BigBellyBubba and the disclaimer "Weeee crack 4 U. InJoYyYyYyY.
jejejejejeje". Oppps they left out the part in the NFO "All your CC/Bank
Password belong to US".

Betageek52 is correct. When we accepted the terms of use and installed Vista
Beta we accepted that Vista Beta has a limited life. That is the limitation
we accepted to be able to test Vista w/o cost.

Mark people who read the warning when downloading would have realized... and
If they didnt read it prior to installing then well it sucks to be them.
BETA pretty well stands out for it self , plus the EULA says the same....
yes no one reads that I know... But I have... part of the job
description.... basicly MS says you install this and loose critical data....
Tough Tur*$

Pick your fave search engine... search for crack sites.... search for a
crack.... install get infected format loose private information....
Yes it expires..... you think ms is handing out freeware?

Away from the standpoint of illegality

( for sure its illegal to crack Vista and or the timebomb )

All Microsoft OS that got trial-status did have a timebomb, most after
180Days, Vista gives us nearly one year (!) the only OS that had more was
Win2000Advanced Server which allowed 444 Days Trial.

Also I do wonder for what damn reason someone wants to run a BETA Operating
System as his main Operating System ??

RC1 is pretty stable, but you never know when something does not work or if
it BSODs if it is related to the RC or to thirdparty software.

So, if you find a way to hack it - alright, but believe me, you will never
be able to use it luckily.

One Example :

Windows XP ReleaseCandidate 2525 ( which I bought back in 2001 ) refuses to
install a lot of Software that runs on XP build 2600 RTM ( some Software
checks the OS Build version before setup can continue, to verify one is
using a RTM ) and even this last RC of XP has annoying bugs that are not in
the RTM Version.

So it will be with Vista. The Version we will see in the shops will act and
look exactly like that OS, we are now using, but believe : it will be
different in the details, namely STABLE.

And; the funny part.
WHY would anyone want to run beta software;after the full release came
out;to begin with?
Jeff

Guys, I need a way to break the TimeBomb. I know someone can help me

After January 2007, you should be able to break the timebomb by using one of
the following keys: Visa, MasterCard, AmEx ...

You can use the betas until June 1 2007. Anyone wanting to use a system
still in beta, unpatched, receiving no further updates...etc..needs their
head examining.
