I've just downloaded and installed the new PPviewer for
PP2002. I uninstalled the earlier version PPViewer97.

When I use Pack n Go I expect the new viewer to be
automatically available using the wizard but it doesn't
recognise it, instead I am invited to dowload the viewer
again from the web.

How do I get the new viewer to be automatically attached
during the pack n go process? Will I need to load
Powerpoint again?

Appreciate your help guys....

Pack and Go doesn't use the new Viewer and never will. If you want to use
Pack and Go you'll need to use the old Viewer. Alternatively, opt not to
have the Viewer included. Then unpack your packed files and add the files
for the new Viewer. There are 7 of them. Then you can zip up the whole
shibang and send it off to where you want it to go.

Pack and Go won't use the new PPT Viewer, as Pack and Go
predates that Viewer by a number of years.

You'd need to use the old Viewer to do the Pack and Go
thing. PPT 2003 leverages that new Viewer using something
called "Package for CD."

To use the new Viewer in the same way without the
actual "Package for CD" feature, I believe you need to
include on the CD the 7 (?) files the Viewer installs
along with all your presentation files and other linked
files. But you will want to make sure all your linked
files are in the same folder with your presentation file,
as you don't have the "Package for CD" thing available to
help resolve those links.

You can download the old Viewer at

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?
FamilyID=7C404E8E-5513-46C4-AA4F-
058A84A37DF1&displaylang=EN

Download it and install it, then try the Pack and Go
again.

Sonia,
Many thanks I guessed that might be the answer but when I
look inside the 'Installed' Powerpoint Viewer folder I
can only see 5 files?(and 2 of them are in a sub folder
called setup) Have I missed something? Could you explain
how I might extract the files from the ppviewer.exe file
without actually going through the motions of installing
the programme?

Thanks Keith

Hello
Had same problem sent email to sonia coleman and she
advised the the new viewer can not be used for pack and go
but they make a program with the new viewer installed and
the cd is also autorun. I believe you have to copy viewer
to cd. hope this helps
nola

You can't extract them, but here are the files that you'll need to locate
and include on the CD:
gdiplus.dll
intldate.dll
pptview.exe
ppvwintl.dll
pvreadme.htm
saext.dll
unicows.dll

I'm not sure how the Viewer is installed on each system, so you may find the
files all together, or you may need to do a search for a couple of them.
