I have a Microsoft Windows 2000 PPTP VPN Client that I use to connect
to a remote server. I have a RoadRunner Cable connection that is
available all the time.

As the VPN is configured now, I have to make the Client connection
manually after I start my computer.

How do I make the connection on my end happen automatically when I
start my computer?

At the login screen check the box for 'Logon using dialup connection.' A
cable Internet VPN is a 'dialup' connection for this purpose.

I don't have a login screen. I use autologin. Is there some other way
to access that switch?

I tried that, but it is not automatic - it requires that I manually
launch the VPN client login. And when I convert back to Autologin,
nothing happens to the VPN client. I am back where I started.

I need a way to get the VPN client to establish the connection
automatically at startup.

If you save your VPN settings including pasword, the client will launch
automatically. Obviously, autologon does not support this feature.

I turned autologin off and tried to set it up as you indicated. Not
only did I have to login to Windows, but I still had to manually
launch the client VPN.

What a bummer - can't MS ever get things right?
