PPTP-Tunnel seperated from normal traffic

Hello!

I have a PPTP-tunnel, set up with the winxp build-in pptp-client, which
tunnels all my inet-traffic through it. Now I am searching for a
solution, which makes me able to route some traffic (ie with a proxy)
through the vpn-tunnel, and the standard traffic through the normal
inet-connection. A haven't found a PPTP-client, other than microsofts,
for winxp yet. Perhaps it would also not help me at all, but the Cisco
Vpn-client for instance is able to only route traffic to and from a
specific subnet though it. The rest goes untunnelt. Eventually there is
a third-party client which may help me in this way.
The other solution for this may be a scenario with an emulated
network-device, connected to the same network as the "real" nic. Over
one of them runs the pptp-tunnel, the others handles unencrypted
traffic..... The reason is, that the pptp-tunnel is rather slow, so i
want my normal inet-activities uneffected by this issue.

If there is any solution, let me know!

thx

I am not sure I understand the issue. Let me try two suggestions.

1. If PPTP is only for two networks' accessing, disable use the gateway in
remote network.
2. Assuming you want to manage the traffic to go different subnets, you need
to modify the routing table. These links may help,

Not sure if this is your issue or not, but I believe what you have described
is the need for a "split tunneling" configuration.

If you select your PPTP connection from Network Connections, open its
Properties., Then from Properties select the Networking tab, then
double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to open its Properties. From the
General Tab select the Advanced button, from the NEXT General tab there is a
check box "Use Default Gateway on Remote Network". When selected you will
not be able to access I'net resources directly, though DNS requests will be
forwarded/resolved. When deselected, you can have a connection to private
network and still browse the I'net, etc.

Evidence of the traffic and what is taking place under these two scenarios
is easily verified using MS Network Monitor 3.1 or Ethereal, for example.

If this is NOT you issue, please keep up informed...
