PPT2007 corrupts TIFF images when they are inserted into PPT slide. PPT2007
wants to automatically change the TIFF image resolution which can not be
read. Unfortunately, you can not adjust it back to what it was before. Please
report this to the developers to fix.
I have gone back to using PPT 2003 to save time and peace of mind.

Please give us repro steps. For example, how are you inserting the TIFF
files?

Also, how do you know PPT is changing the resolution of the TIFFs? When does
it do this?

You may not have realized it (and there's no reason you should have) but the
default is to compress pictures upon save. Perhaps that's what's causing the
problem? To change this, click a picture, then on the Picture Tools Format
ribbon, click Compress Pictures, then Options. Uncheck "automatically
perform basic compression on save."

If this is the problem, please let me know. I told MS I thought this would
be a frequently asked question, and I think it may have just begun...

Resolution or color depth? There's a problem with it changing the color depth
of TIFFs in some cases; that's been reported.
