Everytime I try to change the Advance slide setting to
manual - PPT crashes.
With an error 0x0000042C in the details of the crash.
Windows 2000 App Event shows two messages
Event 1001 - Fault bucket 21275025
Event 1000 - Faulting application powerpnt.exe, version
10.0.4205.0, faulting module powerpnt.exe, version
10.0.4205.0, fault address 0x0035848a.

Is there any suggestions.
Config -
Windows 2000 Pro - SP4 all updates
Office 2002Pro - Corp with SP2 with 2 hotfixes Q818947 &
Q822347
20 other computers configured the same no problem.

Steps taken -
Check for Spyware and other abnormal apps.
Detect and repair
Complete removal and reinstall of Office
Safe mode start of Powerpoint
Some older presentations will let me make the change
Testing done with new blank page.
Different users logged into system same problem
Cannot replicate on any other computer in office

Thanks for the help in advance.

Thanks for including all that info, Brad. That way we don't have to
suggest stuff you've already tried!

When you're changing the slide advance from automatic to manual, where
are you doing that? Are you in slide sorter view with all the slides
selected and making the change in the taskpane? Or are you doing
something different?
Safe mode start of Powerpoint
Some older presentations will let me make the change

What about booting in Windows Safe Mode? I suspect video drivers, and
that would be a good test.

If Windows Safe Mode doesn't let you switch to manual, then I'm stumped.

Anybody else got any ideas? This wouldn't be like a spontaneous reboot
because of bad RAM or something like that, would it?

I can recreate the problem just by opening a new project
with a blank slide select Slide Show -> Setup Show ->
Advance Slides -> Manual
This will cause the crash.
Also if the PPT is created on another computer and is
switched to manual and saved.
Then opened on the problem computer it will work fine but
if you try to switch it back to use timings it will crash.

I will try safe mode but all the VAIO notebooks are setup
with the same driver set.

Thanks for the help
