PPT X (Mac) vs. PPT 2002 (XP)

I tried to post this question to the Mac board, but it
wouldn't accept the message. (I couldn't get my server
configured properly.) So I thought I would try it here.

Does anyone know why PowerPoint X for Mac does not have
all the features of PowerPoint 2002 (XP)? I am thinking
specifically about Custom Animations, but there are other
differences as well. In the past the Mac versions I have
used have been nearly identical to the Windows versions.

I work with many customers in the education market. They
use PowerPoint for instruction, news bulletins, and other
school-related slide shows. The Entrances and Motion
Paths available in 2002 (XP) are wonderful. The Mac
version seems to be lacking the following: many of the
entrances, emphases (not in Mac version at all), and
motion paths (also not in Mac version). Any ideas why
these useful options are absent from version X?

Thanks for any ideas anyone can offer!

Does anyone know why

I guess, but that's all it is...

Mac versions tend to fall between Win versions. Mac Office 98 had a few
features that Win users didn't see until Win Office 2000. Then Win Office
2000 users got more than Mac Office 98.

Your version is probably better than Office 2000, but not as good as Office
XP.

Mac and PC versions seem to overlap and are not updated at the same time.
Office X came out for the Mac before XP for the PC and made us jealous with
its new features...now it's the Mac users' turn! I'm sure you'll get the
features.

Thanks for your reply! Actually, I use PPT 2000 with
Windows XP at work. It is one of our customers who uses
Mac OS X. But it will be good to have an explanation for
them.

At home we use PPT 98 with Mac OS 8 LOL! We live in the
dark ages! But the G3 is a great machine. It's five
years old and still going strong.
