PPT to DVD

I am trying to make a DVD for my daughter that just got married. I
have a power point show that we used for bridal shower, a multitude of
pictures from the wedding and a video made with a Sony DCR-HC30.
I want to import the PPT presentation to MM2. I don't want to have to
do each slide separately if I can help it. Once the PPT is imported, I
want to add on the video which has already be transferred to a VCR
tape. (I don't have a fire wire connection) and then add the pictures.
I was at Papa John's site and really didn't see anything to help out.
If anyone has any suggestions, I am all sighted to read it.
I am running XP Pros SP2, 1.5 G Ram, 80 Gig HD and a 1.6 MHz CPU.

If I was to do this I would use photostory 3, import all the slides
seperately and the stills. Use the facilities here, then export the movie
out as a wmv. (I'm not sure if a PPT can be imported into PS3, never tried)
The reason for this is PS3 is designed for editing stills, whereas Movie
maker is for video and often fails to do a good job with stills.
I would also buy a firewire card for my pc, they are so cheap and with the
expense of the wedding you don't want to ruin it now with the poor quality
of vhs, coupled with the difficulty in getting this into your computer adn
being able to edit it with MM. Most analogue captures are made to Mjpeg
format, which won't import to MM, is compressed again from the vhs which has
already lost lots of quality. You then would have to convert this to wmv or
dv-avi, which would lose more quality.

Anyway, my slant on what you want to do and the reasons why. If you wish to
carry on with your method, can you let us know what sort of analogue input
you have for your video, to advise on the method to go.

Did you read Papjohn's page on importing powerpoint presentations, because
it has many ways of doing it, and I can't think of anything else to add to
it???

Graham,
Thank you for your input. I meant to mention that I use a DVD Express
to convert the analog to digital format.

If it's the "ads" one then I'd use the software which comes with it, (Ulead)
as it captures as mpeg, which will not work with movie maker.

You don't say whether any of papajohn's methods of PPT are any use. These
same methods would no doubt work equally as well with Ulead. The stills
could also be imported into this ok.

any pointers on my site would be on the Importing Source Files > Power Point
Presentations page
I was hoping to just import the whole PPT package, but from what I am
reading, I will have to import each slide separately. But, I am going
to keep on looking.

If you have PowerPoint (I believe it has to be version 2002 (XP) or later)
you can download and install PowerPoint Producer free from Microsoft and
import all your Power Point slides (as a file) into it and create a wmv file
from the slides. It allows you to control the duration of the slides in the
movie and a LOT more. Best of all it's FREE.

Download here: (watch wrap of line)

Producer for PowerPoint 2003 here

According to the site works with PowerPoint 2002 or 2003

Hope this helps....
