PPT Sound Files

I am not sure why this is happening, but occasionally my
students add sound files to their PPT presentations and
the sound file WILL NOT PLAY.

They change the effect options (start on mouse click, with
previous, after previous) - nothing happens. The sound
plays perfectly through their home folder.

If it was everyone in the lab, I would be freaking out,
but only this is happening randomly.

We have also tried both options when you first insert
sound, Play automatically or When you click on it.

THX!!

When they insert the sound file, and if they insert them as wav files, they will
travel with the presentation from home to the Lab. But if they insert sound
files other than .wav files, they are linked and do not automatically travel
with the presentation. The best way to do this is before the sound file is
inserted, is to insert it into the same folder as the presentation then insert
it into the presentation. Bring both the presentation and the sound file to the
Lab and the links should remain intact and your presentation should function
normally.

My mistake for not describing "home folders" in more
detail. The home folder is where they save here at school.

I am glad though that my thoughts are with your
suggestions. I have asked the students to make a folder
and in that folder place the PPT, graphics and ALL sound
files. That seems to work for some, but not everyone.

Thanks again

It still may be a links problem for which you may find your answer here.

Links break when I move presentation (and at other times)

Do the sound files play on that particular machine outside of PowerPoint. All
machines although they may look the same may be configured differently.

It's probably a link path problem. This is the place to start:

They have to first put the sound/movie files in a folder, save the PPT to that
folder, and only then insert the sounds and movies.

Inserting the media files first then accumulating them in a single folder with
the PPT after the fact won't work.
