.ppt plays fine but .pps does not

Help please? I have a small 3 slide ppt with music that plays over 3 slides
from an embedded wav file. It's fine on powerpoint but when i save it as a
..pps, it opens on the 2nd slide and stays there on screen with no transition
and without any music? Tried allsorts, help much appreciated. J
 
2 ideas.

1) You have hidden slide 1. In the ppt file in slide sorted view, is there
a gray box around the slide number?

2) The slideshow has a limited slide range set. Check under the SlideShow
settings for SlideShow settings => Show slides => Check the all button.
