PPT moves boxes during inserts

Greetings from a newsgroup lurker;

Using Powerpoint XP, I see an annoying characteristic that I wish to change.
I work with a lot of images, and often insert them into slides, but whenever
I use the Insert/Image/FromFile command, Powerpoint moves my existing text
and title boxes around to accomodate the new image. Powerpoint also
modifies the font size in the text box. Both these automatic changes create
a lot of work to reset the font size and text box positioning.

Anyone have any ideas where this behaviour can be modified? Thanks!

Rivets,
My guess is that you have the autoformatting options turned on. These
options tell PowerPoint to re-size things on the screen so that what you add
fits. What it doesn't do is let you control how things look. (I pasted it
there that size because I wanted it there that size and I didn't want
anything else to change!)

To turn these options off, go to Tools --> AutoFormat, Autoformat As You
Type tab and turn off all three autoformat options. You will be much happier
with your insert and paste results.

For more things you should always change in the default PowerPoint setup,
see this PPT FAQ page:

Hope this helps!

Go to Tools/Autocorrect and turn off the automatic layout option. (It may be
under Tools/Options or Tools/Customize if you don't see it under
Tools/Autocorrect.)
