Ppt crashes trying to save

I've been using Office 2000 Professional SR-1, and all of a sudden, I can't make any changes to my existing presentations or save new ones. When I click save, a message box appears saying "I/O error 6." I cannot close the message or do anything else on my screen except bring up the Task Manager to close it. The only different I had done before encountering the problem was to download a presentation from a web site: PeaceCorps.org.
