I am trying to insert a video clip in a power point presentation. On
selecting the file to insert I get a system generated 'MS Powerpoint has
encountered a problem and needs to close' message. I have done this
successfully on another pc running the same version (Office 2003 SP2) and so
I know that what I am trying to do should work. I need to create this on this
PC in order that I can burn the presentation to CD for use in a lecture
theatre. I have tried to repair the Office installation and checked the KB
but found nothing relevant. Any ideas?

Try downloading and reinstalling Widows Media Player. This often corrects
issues with file/player associations.

Thanks for taking the time to advise me. I did as you suggested and am sorry
to say that there appears to be no difference. Powerpoint still closes when I
try to insert an mpg and also when I view a slide within a presentation which
has a working mpg link.
