Ppt 2003 Use template from different presentation

in ppt 2003 how can you use a different presentation's template for the
presentation you're working on?

ppt 2000 used to have a specific menu item that let you do that but 2003
does not, have looked all night both in the program itself, in help and
online, it's been fruitless.

It's not that intuitive!

File > New > "From design template" in task pane
At the bottom of the pane click "Browse"
Change the file of type box to "presentations & shows *.ppt, *.pps" and
browse to your target.
 
Maybe I am reading your question differently than John, but I would go to
Format--> Slide Design and pick the new template from the task pane that
appears. You can also bring up this task pane by right clicking the
background of the slide and selecting "Slide Design".
