Ppt 2003 re: spellcheck; Mine doesn't allow "add to Dictionary"

..My spellcheck function works fine in other Office Pro 2003 apps...did I fail
to select (or select) some preference or option, or choose one that caused
this oddity?

When I select "Add to Dictionary," I get a tone and no action/addition to
the dictionary, indicating to me that the "add to dictionary" function is not
operating or is being blocked by something else (maybe apreference/option
somewhere in my version of the Ppt 2003?).
 
I cant think of any setting that would block this. Check whether the custom
dictionary is missing. It should be a file called CUSTOM.DIC and it should be
in Docs & settings\your name\application data\microsoft\proof
