When I try to install my PPT 2003, I get an error. It reads as follows:

Error 2908. An internal error has occurred.
({53EB5CFB-3DAF-4890-ABCD-4895D28EAAAF}) Contact Microsoft Product Support
Services (PSS) for assistance.

What does this mean? It is the full version of PPT. I have not had it
previously installed on my computer. Everything seems fine (product key
entered correctly, enough disk space, etc) except for that error code when I
try to install the PPT. How do I fix this problem?

I suggest that you do as the error message suggests and contact Microsoft
Product support.

I already have. They ask me for the PID (Product ID) which is found under the
Help menu of the application after it is installed on the computer.

That is all they asked, and never gave you any options? Whenever I install
new software on my computer I create a restore point for just that purpose
that if I mess up, I can go back to square one and start again. Have you
tried restoring you computer to a point before you installed PowerPoint?

Powerpoint has never been installed. It is unable to install (I get the error
message). I spent two hours on the phone w/a tech rep from Microsoft but
nothing was resolved. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If this were my situation, I would first do a complete computer cleanup,
defrag etc. I then would restore my computer back to a time before I started
to install PowerPoint. Make sure that all my updates were up to date, and
then try and install PowerPoint again. If unsuccessful, then I would start
from scratch and rebuild my system. sorry that is about all I have to offer.

All organizations mistakenly hire idiots from time to time. I suspect you've
found one at MS, at least you have if the person at the help desk had the same
information you've given us and spent two hours with you on the phone asking for
the PID in this way.

I'd spin the Wheel 'o Tech Support once more and see if you come up with a winner
this time. Give them another call?
