PPT 2000 to PPT 2003 Disappearing Act

A colleague of mine is experiencing a version snafu. Using
PPT 2000, she edits a PPT created in 2003. Her edits do
not show up in the newer version when the originator
accesses the file following her edit.

Our organization is so far not sensing the necessaity to
have the primary PPT editor using the same newer version
as our presenters. Is there a patch or workaround?

In PPT 2003, go to Help/Check for Updates. There's a "critical update"
for PPT 2003 which was released shortly after the program itself was.
Install that.
