A presentation created under ppt2000 displays random blue rectangles
blotting out the content when diplayed by ppt xp. These blotches
appear in the outline view as well as the normal slide view.
Powerpoint XP has sp1 and 2 installed. The behavior is consistant
across multiple machines. Anything with ppt 2000 displays fine,
anything with ppt XP shows the flaw.

Are the "blotches" all in the same place? It's not just an image going
wonky on you, is it? Oh, wait, nevermind -- you did say random. :-)

You might check to see if the systems have updated video drivers, and
you could also see if changing hardware acceleration helps. But it's a
little odd that multiple machines are having this issue -- unless, of
course, they're using identical video cards.

Thanks, that was my first thought also. The behavior is absolutely
consistent across widely different machines; laptops, desktops, new,
old, etc., so I can't believe it's a video driver problem. The problem
occurs in slides both with and without images. The obstruction seems
transparent to powerpoint, the cursor reacts with the underlying
content as if nothing was in the way.

If the user didn't happen to be the boss, I'd tell him to do it over.

Sounds like a call for round tripping to 'clear out the cobwebs' as it was
recently put.

Definitely worth a shot, B.

Warren, if you want to send me two or three sample slides, I can take a look
this evening and see if I can spot anything. Please don't post them here --
just email to (e-mail address removed)
