I get various .pps files bye-mail and am wondering how to change the time
between slides within the show; can they be increased or decreased in precise
increments of time such as in Microsoft photo gallery?

thank you

Hi Martin

You can change the length between slides by changing the 'automatically
after' time in the slide transition taskpane. You will need the full version
of powerpoint (not just the viewer) to do this. To make the pps open in edit
mode instead of slideshow mode, either open them through file -> open in
powerpoint or change the extension to ppt.

Hi Lucy :

I understand intuitively and thank you very much for your clear answer. I
have Powerpoint 2007 and didn't quite see your instructions. Found only a
transitions speed box under animations tab. Is this equivalent ? Also found
only 3 speed, slow medium and fast. Is this what I am limited to ??

Thank you so much.

Hi Martin

Ahhh, 2007 - no transition taskpane anymore. Over on the right hand side of
the animations tab there is an 'advance slide' area - that's where you can
change the 'automatically after' time to any time you want and hit the
'apply to all' button. The transition speed is about how fast the transition
from one slide to the next happens, not *when* it happens if you get what I
mean.
