If Echo's option doesn't work, you can open PowerPoint, open the PPS file
(this can't be done without opening PowerPoint first), go to the desired
slide, click "File", "Save as", click the "Save as type" dropdown and select
"jpg". You will be asked if you want to save each slide or just this one.

"Success, something you measure when you are through succeeding."

Whatever Echo said, and that works only with PowerPoint 2002, 03 (for
Windows) and 04(for Mac).

For earlier versions, save the presentation as HTML - and you'll find your
graphic within the folder where PowerPoint exported the HTML output.

Another option is to copy and paste into an image editor or drawing
application - it depends on whether the graphic you want is a bitmap or a
vector graphic.

This works for graphics that are part of the slide. On the other hand, if
you want to export an entire slide as a graphic, use Bill Foley's
suggestion.
