.pps files - unable to open

I have windows xp home edition and cannot open .pps files
Can I download powerpoint and what version would I need?
Do I have to pay for this software and will it take a lot
of my memory? I have a pentium 4....

You cannot download the PowerPoint application and to be clear, neither
PowerPoint or any other MS Office Suite component has ever been a part of
any Windows OS.

That said, you can download a viewer for those files:
