Hello

Is it possible to create a PPPoE connection using a default Windows 2000
client without installing anything? Maybe using Telnet or another Prompt
util?

I ask because my friend is on holyday, with a laptop without CD/Disk and he
needs to create a PPPoE connection, and his only "connection to the world"
is a TCP/IP/ADSL connection.

There is another PC at which is able to sign in. As fare as I can tell it is
not possible to "open" the connection on that mashing and move the RJ45
cable to the laptop. Am I right?

win2k does not natively support pppoe connections. you can ICS to share the
connection.

Hello NetEng

Thanks... but the thing is that when a PPPoE is installed with a ADSL there
is usually no hub/switch, which means the second computer can not be
connected to the laptop and be at the Internet at the same time. And if that
was possible I could download the PPPoE client software to the second
computer, and distribute the software to the laptop. But to do that I need a
crossed Twisted Pair cable to connect the to computers without a switch
(which I don't have).

W2K dose not have a built in PPPoE connection program (winXP dose). If the
computer that is able to connect has 2 network cards, you could enable
internet connection sharing. Make the PPPoE connection and run a crossover
ethernet cable from the second nic to the laptop.
