Hi everybody, does anyone know how to connect / configure
to an ISP that uses PPPoE? ... my ISP provides a tool
(Enternet 300 for Efficient Networks) to be able to
connect. The problem is that this tool seems to cause
problems with the Cisco VPN Client, which I need to
connect to my work network in order to telecommute.

Windows XP offers PPPoE support built in to the operating
system, does anyone know of any patch / service pack / etc
for Windows 2000?

Thanks,

Sig

You will probably be better off buying one of the consumer grade
cable/dsl routers. I believe they pretty much all will connect to a dsl
connection so that you do not need pppoe on your computer. I use a cheap
D-Link that works fine for my dsl connection at work. The major companies
have user manuals available for download so that you can see what you are
getting before you buy - don't rely on the clerk at the electronics
superstore. -- Steve

Search for RASPPOE AT RASPPPOE Home Page.
They have an excellent ppoe converter i have been running for 2 years
Enternet is total crap, You can tell this when there home page says after
you bought it and it does not work tuff.

But will that be compatible with his VPN??? I don't think so actually.
Or not without additional configuration, and besides... definitely not
the cheapest solution.

I suggest a third party PPPOE dialup driver. I use (
http://www.raspppoe.com/ ) It works on NT4 and W2K. It is a driver and
a dialup connection creator. Works great. Read the instructions on the
homepage.

It works fine for my vpn, but I am using W2K client. That is why I
suggested he download the manuals first. --- Steve
