pp2003 show now starts in IE rather than pp, why and how to stop. I develop
PP shows .pps and distribute via a hyperlink in Outlook. Previously pp2000
shows would start Powerpoint on the viewer's system. Created pp2003 show,
and now viewer's system with Office 2000 starts the pp 2003 show in Internet
Explorer. Don't want that, I want the Powerpoint full screen for the shows.
How do I stop pp2003 from directing IE to open the shows.

don't think so, checked the file types values on viewer's systems. Older pps
still show in Powerpoint on Office 2000 systems. Only pps created with
PowerPoint 2003 cause the pps to run in I.E. MS kb291348 and kb 838028 seems
to address the issue. Something within the pps created by PowerPoint 2003 is
controlling. In KB838028, it talks about Office 2003 is designed to make a
more collaborative workspace. In my case, that is too helpful. I want to
disable/stop Powerpoint 2003 from causing IE to run the pps. How can I do
that?

291348 doesn't seem to be relevant. It talks about saving the presentation as a
web page if you want to view it in Explorer, where you said you saved as a PPS.

838028 seems to nail it but it seems to me that it's your classic MS "You're in a
helicopter" answer. (old joke, details on request) Chock-full of interesting
facts but dang, there's no ANSWER in there. Or (to paraphrase an even older joke),
no pony.

Can you post a trivial (non proprietary) example for us to try?

Sorry, I don't have access to an outward facing server. Try this, create a
pps in PP2000, create a pps in PP2003, then access each via a hyperlink, and
see what you get.
Thanks

When I mail myself a link to a PPS file (created in PowerPoint 2003) on one of
my hard drives, receive and open the mail, and click on the link, it opens in
PowerPoint at full screen. I uploaded the same file to my website and mailed
myself a link to the URL and it also opens in PowerPoint at full screen. BTW, I
get the same results with a presentation created in PowerPoint 2000.

This makes perfect sense to me because it is controlled by the file extension,
not by the version of PowerPoint that it was created in.

Did you check the article - -
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;162059? Do you have the "Show"
action for the PPS file extension set to PowerPoint and do you have the "Browse
in same window" option UNchecked?
