Using PP 2000 on Windows XP.
- re PP slideshow saved to CD Rom - receive message 'PP
can't read.'

- re PP presentation save to CD Rom - receive message 'PP
can't open type of file repesented.'

What does this mean and why? Have saved to disk for
other people and they work! Is there any way to retrieve
these items? Have deleted from HD.

You should always save to the hard drive and then use your CD burning
software to burn the file to CD. PowerPoint doesn't save to CD's.

Items were saved to hard drive and then did a backup on
CD using CD burning software. Out of the entire disk,
two slideshows are readable and yet all were done in the
same way. PP cannot read them. What could I have done
to cause this? and is there anyway to retrieve?

Thanks,
Carol

I really don't know. Apparently Windows is able to open the CD and see the
unreadable files. Do you see them in Windows Explorer? Can you copy them
and paste them to your hard drive?

Oh, were they by any chance created in PowerPoint 2002 or 2003 and assigned
a password?

I tried the copy and paste from Windows Explorer to the
hard drive but it still couldn't read it. They were
definately created in PP 2000. I have just started using
it - these were my first slideshows and I have PP 2000.

Anyway, thanks for your help. I'll double check next
time that they backup properly before I delete from the
hard drive. I will try to retrieve from copies I have
given to my sons (that work!).
