I attempted to use the PP2007 Presenter Mode with my HP laptop, and
was unable to get two, different screens. I wrote to HP tech support
and they replied,

"I would like to inform you that Power Point 2007, has this Presenter
Mode option. However, it needs 64 bit drivers for its functioning.
So, I am sorry to inform you that you will not be able to use this
function on your Notebook PC as it has only 32-bit drivers. We have
not released 64-bit drivers for your Notebook PC as of now."

Is that really true? Didn't see anything about it in the requirements
for PowerPoint 2007.

I can tell you from experience: There isn't a problem on at least some HP
laptops. My husband has an HP laptop and he can run presenter view on both
Windows XP 32 bit and on Vista 32 bit with no problems.

If you are running a 64 bit version of your OS, then what HP is telling you
is likely correct. They do not appear to support this on you laptop when
running on a 64 bit OS at this time.

Thanks Kathy. I am running the regular XP Home SP2 that came with the
laptop. I assume that is 32-bit. Could you ask your husband what
settings he uses in the display properties? My laptop has the
Mobility Radeon 9200 video which shows as (Multiple Monitors) on
Mobility Radeon 9200. I have no problem showing the same screen on
the laptop and a monitor screen, but I can't separate them as the
presenter view is supposed to be capable of. Thanks.

I finally figured it out. I kept trying combinations in the Display
Properties Settings until I found the right one. It's certainly not
intuitive. Now I have the presenter screen on my laptop, and the
full-screen presentation on the monitor. Next will be to mate it all
up to a video projector for the actual presentation. Thanks for the
encouragement to keep trying. This will be my first presentation
before a group.
