PP 2007 Background Transperancy Problem

I have about 100 sides that use a common jpg for background. I have it set at 40% transparency.
When a publish a cd all the backgrounds go back to original, which makes text unreadable.
Is this a bug or is there a workaround?

Not sure if it will help with a background -- I think they let you specify
transparency, but I think it doesn't really apply (because then your desktop
would show through).

But even if they do let you have transparency, that won't work on a JPG --
so try a PNG.

Basically, for a background, I'd insert a PNG, set the transparency, then
save that PNG as a new image and insert *that*.
