I prepared a very large presentation w/music for a
sporting event banquet and had to save it to a DVD.
Several people want copies and they do not have PP2002.
Can I save the program so that it will play on a DVD
player? Someone suggested to try and covert the program
to a movie (how?). When I save to a older version of PP
the effects change. Thanks in advance if you can help.

Bruno,

A home DVD player does not understand powerpoint file as they are. They
generally only understand video clips and a basic menuing system.

It would be nice if you could just "save as....DVD" from powerpoint.

This tutorial explains one way of capturing a powerpoint slideshow and
converting and recording it to a DVD that will work on a home dvd player

I just checked out the web site. It is exactly what I
was looking for. Thank you very much.

Hello Bruno,

PowerPoint does not have the built-in ability to save presentations as
video files or other video formats such as DVD-Video (one of the reasons
being the loss of fidelity and interactivity <depending on the
presentation>).

However, if the ability save presentations to DVD-Video, directly from
within PowerPoint, is important to you (or anyone else reading this
message), don't forget to send your feedback to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
