PowerPT freezes during presentation

We're using PPT to run community announcements on our
local cable channel, using a split screen display.
However, quite frequently the slide show will freeze on
one slide and not advance. Is this a PPT problem and if
so how might it be resolved? Would it help to make the
video out the primary monitor and forego the 2 screen set
up? Or could it be a hardware problem? Any ideas?

It's a known problem but nobody seems to know exactly what triggers it. Some
people seem to be able to run shows indefinitely, others can count on a lockup
within a day if not sooner.

The usual workaround is to work out roughly how long it runs before locking up;
then work out a way to restart it every day (week, month, hour) before the
lockup happens.
