In Powerpoint XP:
I paste a picture onto a foil which already has a
picture. Powerpoint automatically shrinks both pictures
and places them side-by-side. I add a third picture and
it automatically shrinks/ places them in quadrants. How
do I turn this off?
 
Go to Tools > AutoCorrect > AutoFormat as you Type and uncheck the item at
the bottom - - Automatic layout for inserted objects.
