First, create a duplicate of the image you have inserted.
Set the original to black and white.
You can do so in PowerPoint. Click on the image to bring up the picture
toolbar.
Click on the second icon, either grayscale or black and white.
Now, place the duplicated image over the original ones so that they overlap
each other.
Click slide show > custom animation.
Select the duplicated image, then click Add effect > Entrance > Dissolve.
