Powerpoint Viewer won't load despite removal nd reinstallation

PowerPoint Viewer is not working. Don't know if it ever worked on this
setup. Clicking on the icon produces no reaction except, possibly, a little
hard drive activity. Same if I right click and try to open a PPT file
(associated with PPV). Same file opens fine in Open Office.

I uninstalled PPV and reinstalled after a reboot but there is no
improvement.

Any help appreciated.

I don't see this a Powerpoint problem. It's an issue of an application I
can't get to run in Vista. It's unlikely to be a PP problem if I can't
even start PP.
